The starting point was that the food would be suitable for dogs of different ages and with varying levels of fitness. The simple underlying idea was that all wild canids, from puppies to older animals, eat exactly the amount they need from the prey available at the time.

In 1982, Gerrit de Weerd, thanks to his knowledge and experience of animal feed in general (both in the Netherlands and abroad), became involved in the development of a dog food that would be used as a neutral test food in a study on the quality of different types of food on the market. Based on Dutch beef, suitable for human consumption, a pressed food was developed without any additives such as dyes, flavors, antioxidants, etc.
The starting point was that the food would be suitable for dogs of different ages and with varying levels of fitness. The simple underlying idea was that all wild canids, from puppies to older animals, eat exactly the amount they need from the prey available at the time.
The two-year study was completed in 1984. Thanks to the excellent results, it became clear that a number of breeders were keen to continue using the neutral “all life stage” feed. It was then decided to market the neutral test feed on a small scale under the name Farm Food HE .
The word spread from mouth to mouth and since 1984 the growth has been good. The composition of the food has basically remained unchanged since the start. The positive reactions are increasing. Most striking is the comment that older dogs who have switched to Farm Food HE “gets young again” and generally lives much longer than 10 years.
Of course, Farm Food HE has been improved over the years, both in terms of our own insights and in accordance with scientific findings, but we have not lost sight of the original philosophy of “one type of food for all dogs of all ages and under all circumstances”.
Farm Food is a natural food and does not contain artificial antioxidants or preservatives. Unopened best before date: see stamp. Shelf life when opened: 3 months. Best before date: see stamp. It is important that Farm Food HE is stored in a cool, dark place where the open bag can “breathe”. Therefore, never store Farm Food HE in a closed plastic container. When the food is sealed, the taste may change. Dogs can smell it much better than we can.
